Getting Back on Track

I have realized that I thrive on schedules and routines. Planning is a huge part of my success. I just need to work on planning away from the comfort of home. So I ate horribly bad Thursday-Monday. My stomach feels like all the fat magically went there and it sort of feels like my skin is stretching. It's a really odd sensation, but it helps me realize I need to get my act together any time it happens.

Today I ate my breakfast of oatmeal and crasains. I had my mid-morning snack of pistachios. I went to the gym during lunch and walked on the treadmill for 65 minutes. I came back to my desk and ate my black eyed pea and barley soup and a granola bar. This is huge. I realized my vacation is over and now it is time to return to normalcy. Sure, I could beat myself up over the numerous self serve ice cream cones I had or the huge breakfasts I ate or all of the drinks consumed with tropical colored umbrellas, but I am not. I did it and I am moving on. And you know what? I enjoyed every minute of it! I will not be weighing myself until Monday the 11th. While I wish I could participate in the scale free February, I know that will not work for me. If I have learned anything, it is that forcing myself to do things I am just not comfortable with is not going to help me in the long run. Like running. No matter how hard I try, I don't enjoy it. I need accountability and weighing in once a week helps me do that.

My cruise pictures can be found here. As more pictures are added I will let you all know. I had a blast and I am pretty lucky I was able to go :)

Wow, I'm glad you had an amazing time on your cruise! Getting back into the swing of things isn't always fun, but it happens.

I couldn't agree with you more about the running thing. I do *not* like running. I don't know if its my height (I'm fairly tall..not as tall as you, but close LOL) where my long legs feel like they're getting in the way, or if its just one of those things that don't mesh with me. Either way, I do not enjoy it either. Walking & bicycling work for me, but running... not so much.

(Sidenote, my *word verification* to publish this comment is hilarious. It's "ahhhh" ) Too funny!

Glad to hear that you're getting back into the swing of things now that you're back. It's so hard to get back on the wagon after being on holidays!

You're pictures are fantastic! It sounds like you had a great time! Ha I saw this and thought of you...

Fun pictures! Did you go on that water slide?? Seeing that made me want to go on it! I've never been on a cruise, but I wouldn't mind going on an Alaska one.
Great attitude about the cruise. I would do the same thing. If you didn't enjoy it, then what's the point you know? Now like you said you are back, and now you will eat better. No regrets...I love it! :)

Lex-it figures that I would complain about not enjoying running and then I sign up for a fun run. It is a polar bear 5 K sponsored by my work on 2/20. I think it will be sort of fun, but I am still not a runner.

Linds-I was actually on the deck below and saw the whole JM/Borat swimsuit thing transpire. It was quite comical. He certainly was hamming it up for the crowd.

Sarah-I did not go on the water slide I meant to, but never got around to it. They use salt water in the pools and my skin was really dried out from snorkeling, so I decided not to. I am not the biggest fan of cruising, but I would like to go on an Alaskan cruise as well.
