Today was by far the hardest. For 5 AM it was sure hot. Welcome to TN. Welcome to the South. Welcome to 70 degrees and HUMID at 5 AM in the morning. I am sure the fact that I wore yoga pants didn't help much, but I honestly dislike the way my legs look in shorts. I just have so much extra skin flappin around. Today we were constantly moving doing intervals of all sorts. I am not evening going to attempt to describe them, but they were hard and I pushed myself and I was pretty tired at the the end. I can already tell my lower body is going to to be SORE tomorrow.
I made it through the first week and I sort of like it. Actually I really like it. I am seriously considering signing up for the July class.
American Gladiator party tomorrow. My costume is awesome. Of course I will post pics :)
Here's the question: what do you change? Whom do you call that you haven't spoken to in years? Whom do you realize has been toxic to your heart and drop with surprising ease? What trips do you cancel, and what trips do you book? What can't you be bothered with anymore? What's the new you like? Think about that, and then ask one more question. Why not just change it all right now?-- John Mayer

On Food
Despite my knowledge of knowing how limiting the types of food eaten and labeling food (like good and bad, healthy and not healthy) can be detrimental to weight loss (well peace of mind in general), I still partake in this unhealthy habit. I just realized it yesterday, after talking about a couple of binges I had had earlier in the week. So I am going to work on really savoring and enjoying foods. I am also not going to limit what I can and can’t eat. I think for so long I have limited myself to certain things because I view them as “bad”. However, some of the things I label as bad, really aren’t bad. They just need to be eaten in moderation. I don’t crave twinkies or lots of other processed foods, but I do like some things that shouldn’t be eaten in large quantities.
Here is a list of foods that I REALLY enjoy right now: chocolate, a good dessert, nuts, avocado, buffalo mozzarella, salt and pepper kettle chips, strawberries, pineapple, grapes, good bread. Yep. I think that’s it for about now. If I think of anything else, I will be sure to add it.
Oh the gym. I am slightly sore today, but not as bad as it was yesterday and Tuesday. Oh and I went to the gym this morning. I didn’t have my class, but my body is starting to wake up earlier now. I was there by 5:15 and did stretching/ab work, stair climber for 30 minutes, and treadmill for 45 minutes. I also noticed again how much I really enjoy working out in the morning. I am trying not to get upset with myself for stopping last spring because of the ex. But it’s hard. BUT I am getting back into my old habits and it feels great!

Boot Core Day 2
I slept in an extra 5 minutes this morning, because I didn't need to get there as early. As soon as I got there I started walking around the track and then ran a lap. And we were off. Spin bike for 5 minutes. After that we did an exercise with a partner where we each dropped a tennis ball at the same time and we had to run and catch it before it bounced more than once. Next were pushups in the grass. We used a clock as a guide doing pushups at 12, 3, 6, and 9. We made a full circle the full set and did one push up after each quarter turn. The next time we did 12, 3, 6, and 9 pushups. Rest and repeat. Resistance running drills on the field with a partner. And then a 1/2 mile run past a Wendy's, Subway, and TCBY. Thank god it was morning and I couldn't smell anything coming from those places. We ran to a couple of flights of stairs and than ran up the stairs twice and ran back. We finished with crunches and the plank followed by stretching for about 5 minutes. I like to call this my adult gym class.
I don't feel like they stretch us out enough or there is enough cardio. So I went into the gym and walked on the treadmill for 35 minutes and stretched for 20 more. Hopefully I won't be so sore tomorrow.

Boot Core Day 1
Boot Core Day 1- 198 lbs.
I woke up bright and early at 4:30 this morning. Probably a little earlier than I had to, but I didn’t want to be late on the first day of class. I was of course nervous and the thought of not going briefly floated through my mind. But I knew I just needed to get there. We warmed up with a little jogging. Then we did a timed one minute mile. Ok, so before the run I sized up my other 8 classmates. My only goal was to not be last. Success! I was the third girl and ran my mile in 9:06. Whoa! All I could think about was how in junior high I could hardly run a mile and my times were usually 13 or 14 minutes. I think my best time might have been around 12 minutes. After the mile we did the most excruciating balance/core exercise with a medicine ball. We did these walking pushup things over the ball in a plank position. I fell a few times as did others. After that hell was over we got the weight bars and did these windmill type things and I could feel the burn in my shoulders and neck. Next was partner pulls, which I found super easy because I do wall squats every time I go to the gym. Planks where we balanced on one arm and punched in front of us with the other arm were next. Oh and I forgot we threw the medicine ball 50 times on the ground starting with it above our head. The trainer didn’t count and we had to count our own. I was the last one done, some people obviously weren’t very honest because I was not the slowest at these, but I was the last one done. That’s ok, they are only cheating themselves. We finished with stretching for a few minutes.
Overall I was very pleased with the experience. 5 AM comes pretty early, but the trainer is super nice and not a hard ass. He still does a good job of motivating us. I am glad I picked the 5 AM class because there were only 9 members versus the 20+ in the 6 AM class. Plus, a lot of girls in the 6 AM class looked like Barbie. I smelled perfume when I walked by one of them. Who wears perfume to the gym!?!?
I am slightly sore right now, but I think that is from a few different things. On Saturday I did Wii boxing and yesterday I upped some weights and reps. After the class I did the stair climber for 20 minutes. I think this class will be good for me even though I am going to have to supplement it with more cardio. I would NEVER do these types of exercise on my own, because I just don’t push myself that hard, I am excited to see how the classes progresses and I hope to see some noticeable results in the fit of my clothes.
Some things that happened this past week that pleased me related to health/looks:
A lady stopped me in the grocery store to ask me where the health food section was. After I told her, she said I looked like I would know where it was. This means one of two things, either she thought I looked healthy or I looked like I hippie. I am going to go with healthy. A guy I know from my bar who I haven’t seen in a while called me gorgeous when he saw me. Yeah, it might be considered slightly creepy because he is about 20 years older than me, but he is an acquaintance so it felt nice. Plus I was looking good. Oh and the ex was sitting right beside me. My friends made fun of my long fingers. Now I know what you may be thinking, but I used to have chubby fingers. Now that I have lost some weight, then length is something I welcome. I exercised and ate well this entire week!
