Mountains Beyond Mountains

I got back from Washington last night, and given the circumstances the trip went quite well.  I got to spend some quality time with my parents, family, and friends.  I don't think I have laughed as much as I did this weekend in a long time.

One of the things I love about Washington State, specifically the Puget Sound area is Mount Rainier.  It is simply one of my favorite things about the state.  And any day you can see the mountain is a good day.  My grandparents were so lucky to have an amazing view of the Mt. Rainier from their front porch for 60 years.  It's pretty fitting that the Mountain was out on the day of my grandma's funeral.  There are lots of overcast days in the PNW and like I said before, any day the mountain is out is a good day.

My dad knew a place where we could grab some good pictures.  So I made him take my mom and I.

It really does take your breath away.

My dad and I went back around sunset.

This trip wasn't all roses.  I also experienced my first real case of road rage on the mighty I-5 and I honked at someone while on the freeway.  My mom told me I was completely justified...who goes under the speed limit in the HOV lane?!?!?

My mom and I flew to Houston together to get our connections.  As we exited our plane, I was greeted with Clyde Drexler's Sports Scene store.  Clyde Drexler is only my favorite NBA player.  I was completely prepared to buy anything remotely related to Clyde the Glyde or with the #22 anything.  I looked around and saw nothing.  Surely there had to be something? I asked the clerk and she said they used to carry a lot of items, but a few months ago they had a huge sale and sold it all for $5/piece.  She said that mostly airport staff bought the items and by the bag full.  DUH!  They new a good deal when they saw one!  Cue the sad trumpets.  I was not leaving empty handed.  I made my mom take this picture.  It's not my favorite picture as I look like I had just been on a 4 hour flight in the middle seat with a small child sitting behind me who kicked my seat for the better part of the flight, but it proves I was at the store!
